I know that sometimes when you get into a taxi in Cyprus it feels
like he's going fast enough to fly Wink

Would you use one though?

Google co-founder and Alphabet CEO Larry Page’s autonomous flying taxi company unveiled its late on Monday.
In 2016, Page invested in two flying car start-ups. One of those was Kitty Hawk, which is developing Cora.
Last year, the company released footage of a prototype aircraft that flew over water and was all-electric.

Now the company is pushing forward with making the flying cars a reality. In the video in which Kitty Hawk
unveiled Cora, the company said it is working with the New Zealand government to commercialize its air taxis.

Cora is completely autonomous, can travel at 150 kmh (93 mph), and is all-electric with a range of 100 kilometers.
It also takes off and lands vertically so doesn’t need a runway to operate.

If its autonomous, then we won't have an overweight driver smelling of BO and fags, and they will have to find a way of hacking the meter so it turns off.

No driver, no union, no strikes.... in your dreams Panikos.

I can imagine a Taxi taking off from Mackenzie straight up into the path of an orange jet on finals for Larnaca, fasten your seatbelts and go around again.

Gerry, I think a the time in question, the Tourist market was a little stagnant, if not moribund. The taxi business was not so sophisticated and earning a wage was priority, paying for an aged Merc was not a big deal and we had much lower expectations. I did UN in '68 in Nicosia, we had our own fleet of hire cars with a stripe down the side, and series 1 Landrovers with white paint and proper UN badges to get around in. I always had a motor for the afternoons from the car pool!! The hire cars did pink a lot on MT gas. Laughing
