Currently in the UK and thought we had avoided the worst of the snow -
normally when snow hits the area we seem to get it worse but hasn't been
as bad as some have had it.

Just a covering on the ground at 5am this morning and then..... so everything
is shut down now!!

Might venture out a little later to see if I can get a photo or two Very Happy

For those in the UK - how you doing?

Cheers

Applause Nice one mate - not an easy job I don't imagine but one that doesn't
get enough acknowledgement at times like these!

Take care out there!

Scotland's first ever red snow warning has come into force as severe weather
causes major disruption across swathes of the UK for a second day.

The Met Office alert means a risk to life is likely and urges people to "take
action now" to keep safe.

Evening
When the snow was falling I was watching the Glenn Miller story film
I had seen it many years ago but itís entertaining so I got thinking
What happened to mrs Glenn Miller so I googled it
She died in 1966 aged 64 years old. It was not published in many newspapers
Be lucky

In Zurich in brilliant sunshine and blue sky...trouble is it's -12 or it was this morning. Flying to Luton on Friday, hiring a car, and visiting relis in London for the weekend. Snow willing.

I'll swap with you Paul Very Happy

So my daughter, who you usually can't detach from some device or other,
decided to pick this afternoon to go to a friend's house. After much fun
and watching/playing in the snow as it steadily fell she decided to call home
so the taxi service could swing into action.

Of course we couldn't get out - the street's blocked and there was a little
blizzard going on! No problem says the wife - we'll walk and pick her up to
make sure she gets home ok - it's only "just up the road" she says...

One hour and ten minutes later we returned home, freezing wet from a walk
that was anything but "just up the road"!!

BTW Couldn't get any photos as my phone stopped working - reliably informed
by my less than grateful teenage daughter that it's the cold!! When I
pointed that I could have been nice and warm at home... "I didn't ask you
to come for me" was the response.... ahh teenagers don't you just love 'em Rolling Eyes

Cheers

No - not in a weird way - just that I was watching the news with the HGV's
stranded and must be a nightmare trying to run things at the moment!

Rung three companies this morning and only one is open but couldn't do
anything as half the staff are off!

Me... i'm just trying to dry my feet and keep the office warm Very Happy

Just got back from walking the dogs in countryside north of Limassol. T shirt and jeans. Shoulda worn shorts though! Wading through a blanket of blooming yellow rapeseed, purple iris, anenome and orchid wild flowers. There was a field of almond trees in white bloom.

But ......... it would be cruel to tell you about it Steve. Wink

I remember that Pete. It started on Boxing Day 1963 and as you say, went on snowing into March. It was 3í deep outside our place in the East End of London. Shocked

It was actually Boxing day 1962.

I remember it very well, it was our first winter back in England after 7 years in Cyprus. I was 10 years old and we arrived in the October I think.

My dad got a job running a club in Marlsden (spelling?) in Berkshire (near Newbury) Started the job early December. I can also remember I didn't have long Trousers, I think it was quite mild up till then.

The club was down a side road off a Country road, quite remote.

Got snowed in for a few weeks, luckily the club had a Full size Snooker Table and a Table Tennis Table, so unfortunately for a few weeks I had play those and not go to school Laughing

The other thing I can remember was when I did finally get back to school was the awful School dinners, being Country fide we had Turnips or parsnips with something everyday. Hate them. Anything with a nip (yuk)

I remember that winter as I started at a Grammar School (Soham made famous later for a very unfortunate reason) having bluffed my way through 11+. I asked to go to that school because of its soccer reputation and the other two played that rough game where you pick up the ball and run! Devastated as it was after Easter before the football pitches were open but we did have an ice slide from one goal area to the other.
