Our View: Anastasiades’ must face up to the big issues as second term begins
THE SECOND TERM, which President Anastasiades formally starts on Thursday,
might not appear as daunting as the first but it could prove more challenging
because the big issues facing the government will be more difficult to deal with.
During the first term, the tough decisions such as the closing down of Laiki and
the haircut of depositors were imposed on the government while the Troika-
proposed measures helped stabilise the economy.
The economy is now in good shape, back on the growth path, but other issues
now await the president’s attention and this time there are no ready... [
