A yellow weather alert will be in effect as of Saturday morning until the
afternoon, the met office said on Friday, forecasting wide-spread rain as parts
of the island were also choked by atmospheric dust at the start of the Green
Monday holiday weekend.... [

Have not had much rain here in Kapparis, didn't start until about 9.15 this morning.
It happened mainly at 2am here. My pool was on the verge of overflowing this morning. It was black enough not to be able to see the bottom, even at the shallow end. I’ve never seen it so bad. Can only think it was atmospheric dust brought down.
All the plants and seedlings Mrs T has been so carefully tending (for a charity market) were trashed. Parts of the garden were under a blanket of ice. Impacted hail I think.
Apart from that everything’s just fine.

Obviously, where we are, surrounded by mountains, the rainfall here is less than on the coast. Even so, we have had 11.4 mm up to now (17/13:00) but there is a little more to come. Possibly another front on about Wednesday night with a few mm.
What is worrying are abnormally high temperatures this winter. No frosts, even here at 300 m altitude, first ever! For this month, so far:
Average temp 13.2°C
Max temp 24.7°C on 09/02 at 13:54
Min temp 6.4°C on 13/02 at 05:26
21.2°C - 02/01@13:43
4.0°C - 30/01@05:34
22.5°C - 02/12@14:05
4.9°C - 25/12@ 01:45
