Cyprus’ concerns over the standoff in its exclusive economic zone after Turkish
warships blocked exploratory drilling are understandable, UN special
representative in Cyprus Elizabeth Spehar said Thursday.
Speaking after a meeting with President Nicos Anastasiades, Spehar said they
also discussed the tension in the EEZ after Turkish warships blocked a ship from
carrying out exploratory drilling in an offshore field southeast of the island.
