Absolute rubbish, just back from Budapest and it is far cheaper than Cyprus. According to the review it is more expensive.

Love to know who dreams these stats up?

That article is hardly believable. No way is Tokyo the second cheapest worldwide holiday destination. Tokyo is incredibly expensive. And no way is Bali the most expensive location on that list.

What about for the eight items selected in the basket?

It sounds like the post office get their figures the same way the uk government calculate inflation, instead of looking at every day things like electricity/gas prices, vegetables, petrol/diesel etc. which have gone through the roof they look at things like wellington boots, garden sheds, tank tops which you buy once in a blue moon!!!

Anyone want to buy a tank top? very cheap

In fairness they say they pick eight items a tourist may buy:

"costs of a cup of coffee, a bottle of local beer, a can/bottle of cola, a
bottle of mineral water, a glass of wine, suncream, insect repellent and
finally a three course meal for two inc wine"
