KENNEDY AVE before the whole area DIES a natural DEATH,or is it just a

No shouting - what ideas do you have and to be fair, not so long ago,
everything in Kapparis was closed in winter.

Cheers

While it is less lit up compared to bigger places like protaras. Wendrive thru in evenings when dark in winter & never felt unsafe Just drive slower. Although plenty of shops/bars it doesn’t have the built up
Area feel

Well they put that new road so you can go faster but no footpaths, I think if they put in the footpaths and more lighting along this area I think more people will walk along to the bars not use the cars and just miss family’s that do not drink and drive. I have had a few near misses my self going up and down this road this has been going on for years asking for new paths and more lighting but all they say is they will look at it, 2 things spring to mind it is not a holiday resort area and money.

Just looking for ideas, what is Kapparis lacking business/shops wise? winter and summer.?
If someone was to open a new business what do you think could be successful?
Any thoughts appreciated.

Tidying up the bit of land in between Karas and Mello would be a good start and make a big difference and look to the whole area. Even better if it was lawned.

Wouldn't look too good in August if it was lawned.

only noticed last night after reading this that along kennedy avenue all the way up where you can go left by greenhouses right up to poplife there are only lamp posts on right side. not 1 of left. so no wonder its pretty dark is this common here to just have lights on 1 side

True Kwacka, perhaps they could use some of the water they allocate for watering the pavements to keep our newly lawned area looking nice.

Also they could possibly give some of the tired looking buildings a lick of paint, it makes a massive difference.
Then there's the half built villas that have been standing there for god knows how many years could maybe be completed.

In a word NO this has been like this for 15 years that I know of, I know that there has been at least ten near misses on this road when people have nearly heed knocked down. I have been to the town hall along with lots of other people to complain but all you get is the developers who build the apartments should build the paths and put the lighting in well I don’t think so as everyone knows it is down to the council as they put the new road in, it’s a disgrace as we all know it is because it not a holiday maker area so it dose not make hem money.

i first came to Cyprus in 1989, street lighting was unheard of, bought a restaurant in 2007, it had street lighting in 2012, prior to that, no car accidents, no muggings, in fact no street crime; lighting the streets in Cyprus has only more consequence, it cost the locals more for energy, it adds more heat to climate change.
turn the lights off, they are not necessary, save energy!

Good luck in persuading the owners to cough up to paint their buildings, or builders to complete the buildings when there are few signs of anybody buying - even if the developers are still in business.

There have been quite a few sales in Kapparis over the last two years -
more so in 2017 and definately people buying.

Cheers

The problem with this road, as far as I am aware, is the ownership of it
as from what I recall parts of it didn't belong to the municipality. Some of
it wasprivately owned but I am not sure if that has been resolved now or
not but for sure agree that something needs doing.

There is pavements in some places so just need these joining up with new
ones which should reduce the cost.

As an example of why things take so long you may have noticed the very
barren and large roundabout near CYTA and between Paralimni/Dherynia.

The reason why it looks that way is because both Paralimni & Dherynia
Municipalities are disputing who should pay for the plants & upkeep.
Nobody was quite sure who was responsible so nothing gets done and
it all gets drawn out. Recently central govt. got involved and gave them
some money towards the cost but basically telling them to sort it out
between themselves.

Cheers

Still don't know what Gerry wants to see - what investment/refurbishment??

Certainly pavement for the road from the greenhouses up - that's a given.

On Kennedy Ave - then yes the spare land needs sorting and a lick of
paint here and there on some buildings no doubt. If the land is not to be
used yet then it should be turned into proper parking which would
address the other main issue on this busy road. Better lighting and a
crossing or two wouldn't go amiss.

Other than the above??

It's probably not said very often but personally I am happy that I bought
in Kapparis. It wasn't too long ago that nothing was open in the winter and
now at least it is a year round location. The businesses are good and
they work hard to try keep the place buzzing along. Pretty much
something for everyone, nice little beaches, a dog beach, good walks etc etc

Don't get me wrong - it's not perfect and should look to keep improving,
be tidy and fix the issues that it has but let's not forget what it does
have.

Cheers
