What is the best antivirus software to have? Currently only have free versions but think I should have better protection. Joyce

I've got AVG, which provides me with coverage for not only Virus but also Malware and a bunch of other potential threats.

I had a problem renewing my subscription last week and got in touch with one of their tech support people. From the name he was in India I think. He sent me a small program, which I activated to enable him to gain remote access to my PC. It was weird, sitting with hands in pockets here, watching the mouse pointer fly around. So fast. Not only did he sort out the problem though but checked all the settings to make sure I had max coverage. All done in a few minutes.

The most comprehensive one is https://www.webroot.com/us/en/home and I recommend the middle grade for up to 3 computers/phones/tablets etc. It is very fast and unobtrusive. Used it now for several years and it has solved all problems 100% - and has a fast internet response if you have a question.

I consider myself quite competent with Windows computers.

I have *never* paid for Anti-Virus in my life.

I used to use AVG, but it seemed to be slowing things down, so changed to Avast, which was fine, BUT I got fed up with it's annoying 'nag-ware' pop-up adverts suggesting that I 'upgraded' to their 'paid for' service.

I now use Bitdefender Free, and so far, so good.

I also have a copy of Malwarebytes Free which I run occasionally - it rarely finds anything.

You need to uninstall his "small program" so he doesn't use it for illegal gains...

That had occurred to me. Shocked

Remote tech isnít an unusual method of sorting out proprietary software problems nowadays though.

Also, all my bank accounts (you know, Swiss, Cayman Islands, Monaco, etc. Laughing) are accessed via Digipasses. Wink
