Being new to the area can someone kindly recommend a cheap computer shop in the Paralimni area; I need to buy a copy of Microsoft Office (2013 or 2016, NOT 365).
Thanks,
Tommy.

do the job? Possibly save yourself 160

Both download & use free to use, and both can open/save as MS Word, Excel ,etc. formats, although VB macros may need to be imported.

Both work on Linux, OSX & Windows.

Many thanks for that.
Open Office looks good, but is it compatible with Office 2013 do you know, I have some files using that?
Tommy.

When OpenOffice was aquired by Apache, the developers moved on to develop LibreOffice which as a consequence means that the development of LibreOffice is more recent.

It seems that LibreOffice & MS Office 2013 are largely compatable, see

.

There's a (long) comparison of the qualities/deficits of both LibreOffice & MS Office 2016

.

But give it a try, if it doesn't meet your needs you've lost nothing. Smile

Do you not already have an older version on your laptop? If so and you want to keep Office why not just upgrade on line?

Googling it there are numerous offers.

Bad news!
LibreOffice allowed me to read files created using Office 2013, but NOT to alter/amend them.
So tried Apache Open Office - same problem.

I don't have an older version on my PC because the HD failed and I replaced it with an SSD.
I have the Office 2013 pack but I cannot download it from Microsoft as it is not registered in my name but in the name of the supplier, and that computer shop has gone out of business.
So, am starting from scratch.
I cannot find any free download for Office 2013 on the internet.
If you know of one please share the link.
Thanks for your input,
Tommy.

Wonder if it's worth trying to open the file and then use the 'save as' option? In theory it should work but havent tried the programme you are talking about though. OR

The Document Converter Wizard will copy and convert all Microsoft Office files in a folder into LibreOffice documents in the OpenDocument file format. You can specify the folder to be read, and the folder where the converted files are to be saved. Choose File - Wizards - Document Converter to start the wizard.

Hi.

You could try this - not as attractive as M/S (but far cheaper, particularly when at offer price) and I have found it to be compatible with most things (that I use anyway!).

Not free but you can download a free trial of the full program.

Open the file with Open Office
Then save in Open Office format (ODF file)
Then you can open the new file and edit

You can also 'Save as' in many formats, including MS's proprietary .doc & .docx formats.

If you are still having problems feel free to email one of your files (if it's not too confidential) and I'll try to find what the problem is.
