We have problems in the cities of Sri Lanka disposing food waste which ends up rotting in the streets and spread about by cats and dogs.
Familiar story in Cyprus?

I came up with this idea which has now been spread in the SL gardening community.

Using a small lidded tub sunk in the ground next to a plant enables a small household to compost waste without having a big smelly heap which can attract flies and rodents.

Now 4 months on the banana is producing a bumper crop and the tub had not filled up.

2diffs, this looks like a sealed tub, so how do the nutrients pass through?

It would seem like you didn't read the description... Here is an important part of it..

" The tub had its bottom sawn off and about 20 1" holes were drilled in the lower quarter of the plastic cylinder. "

Trev..
