This thread about an Indian restaurant opening up in the outback of Dherynia has now attracted over 2600 viewings and more than 30 replies - perhaps indicating that Indian food is a fairly popular cuisine!!
How incredible then, that the cosmopolitan resort of Ayia Napa doesn't have any!
seen there is 1 above Steens restaurant on main protaras road.
The only thing above Steens is the sky...Steens is on the top floor.
found its called Ganga. but looks like closed down. its still got name up there and entrance at front going up stairs. was driving so couldnt look to closely but saw steens name as well. if not above steens then must be very close as found both have same address of 327 cavo grecko avenue. then road numbers dont make sense here as we live at number 299 yet next building is numbered well over 300
Ganga didn't last long and you are right,it was expensive. We went there one night and were met by a beautiful girl wearing a sari.I noticed she had a red dot on her forehead and greeted her with my one and only bit of Hindi - Namastay. She replied " i thought you were British - I am Roumanian"
They are still waiting for the work papers for their Indian chefs to go through, cannot believe how stupid the Cypriot authorities are at times ( then again I can) Same thing happened last year with Los Bandidos, but at least that is open this year
Called in there this morning and got a date for opening - 26th.May.The chefs are here and everything is set up -only things lacking are the three work permits for the chefs,.Got a look at the Menu -very interesting and lots of stuff I have never heard of.Turns out that the lady who will be "front of house" is Martina who used to work for Charlie Antzoulides in the Akionia,Kapparis.Owner of the place is George an Indian guy but born and raised in Gateshead on Tyne.Cant wait!!
