My first full day off for 2 months, the Mrs said "lets go to Varoshiotis for lunch"...we haven't been for a while so who am I to argue??? Dancing

Simply the best fish restaurant in Cyprus, go along the main promenade in Larnaca, past the fort and it's right on the sea as you go towards the airport.

Not cheap, but excellent value for money, Sundays are booked up almost right through the year, if you have the fish meze you won't even think about food for the rest of the day!

Washing it down with some Efes Xtra now, then a good kip Sleep

Have they replaced the floating table and chairs?
Last September it had broken free from its mooring. We saw it float past the Fort. Laughing
Didn't go this year, but have had excellent food and service both times we went.

I knew the owner 'Vassos' when he had a restaurant in Famagusta (pre 74) and it was the place where I first began to fully appreciate Cypriot quisine.
If you are of an age to have gone there just say 'You Know' to him.
These were the only two English words he knew at that time and he will assume that you are old Famagusta customers, you will make his day!
The Larnaca restaurant may be a little more up market than the Famagusta restaurant but the food was as great then and as it is today.

By the way and just in case Vassos has now added to his English language skills the old restaurant was opposite a cinema and had fishing nets fixed to the walls. Sundays were much the same then as they are today with families queing to get a table.

The guy has done well for himself.
My information is that Varoshiotis, La Casa and Bailey's Pub and The Brewery (all in Larnaca) plus a couple of places in Nicosia all belong to the same people. (Only recently found out about The Brewery and Nicosia places.)

Ate here on Sunday before flying home - very handy for the airport.

Best meal I've had in Cyprus for a while. We had the fish meze at CYP10.95 - superb and such a variety, including unusual titbits such as a garlic mash potato dip, crab dip, fresh prawns, and a fish pie. With excellent bread and a very nice bottle of Vasilikon dry white which was close to a sauvignon blanc though made from xynisteri grapes.
