Hi Dawn!

Fantastic steak at Kantara on Dekhelia road. Also good steak at Goodfellows down Gregory Afxentiou Ave (road that goes down to the police station in Larnaca) Goodfellows is a bit different as it is covered with classic pictures of film memorabilia and the food is titled with the characters etc from the film Goodfellows!! Service great too in both!

Hope this helps!

Chrysi

Dawn,

There is quite a list already in this section.

Everyone's opinion is bound to be different (you can't please all of the people all of the time), so you might want to select a few from the list.

Hi Dawn....I'd also recommend the Kantara, great for that special occasion.
More everyday I'd go for Bambos, on the main road in Xylotymbou, off Junction 60 of the A3, up by Dhekalia.
Good food at good prices, they shut on Monday's
We shall be there in two weeks for a mixed grill. Laughing
Hope you and Dave are both well
Ian & Rita

Good restaurant in Larnaca? Varoshiotis, probably the best fish restaurant on the island, between the fort and the airport.

Along Dhekelia Rd, I would say the best are:

La Veranda for general Steaks etc.
Vlachos Tavern or Marcos for Meze
Taj Pavilion for Indian
Lambros for Fish & Chips as mentioned in other threads
Casa Mia for Italian
Aztecas for Mexican

Kantara is also good, but not as good as La Veranda in my opinion.

Flavours Stonegrill in town centre is pretty good, you can cook your own if you like, but the steaks they cook are also very good.

The best steak I've had anywhere in Cyprus was in Cambanella's Argetinian Steak House (next to Masalas), but I went there at the weekend and it's closed down & gone like it was never there! Anyone know what's happened to it?

Ali's Bar near the Pergamos border is also worth a visit if you're on a budget and are not bothered that it looks like it's falling down. Expect to pay under £15 for 2 good meals with drinks.

Ones I would personally not go back to are:
Lily Wong's Chinese - worst Chinese I have ever had!
Vettrianos - average food at above average prices.
Surf & Turf - better steaks in other places that also offer more choice.

Id agree with alot of the choices but also recommend Campanarios , opposite Metro- very pleasant place , top service, at reasonable prices.

Personally id say with exception of Lai Chinatown on Makarios Ave, all chinese restaurants are rubbish.

Worst meals ive had, are

1. Bamboo, Xylo- worst meze ive ever had, limp, old salad, disgusting ttavas-it was awful.

2. Vettraianos- agree- quite cheap for some dishes- had a chicken risotto, with no chicken in it, maybe just chicken stock!!

Melitzis between the Fort and Makenzie. I can recommend the sheep’s intestines. (Really.)

Monte Carlo and Cuckoo's Nest in the same area, neither have let us down.

Coral Beach and Lysia on the Larnaka/Dhekelia Road are both worth a try.

The Corfu Tavern in (V)Oroklini.

The 120 restaurant in Stadiou Street, Larnaca, just off the airport road by the football stadium is highly recommendable. Used to be the old UKCA Club. Very much along the "Viale" theme.

We often see Bambo's (when getting water or going to Plus) and wonder who goes there and what its like. Think we might give it a go now. Thanks.

I meant to add that we like Masalas for indian. Although have heard excellent comments about Taj Pavillion.
My hubby has been to Casa Mia on the strip and said it was a good Italian. Im yet to get him to take me there!
I've heard poor reports about the restaurant above Pizza Hut (forgotten the name) on Larnaca strip. Its ooposite Palm Beach hotel.

We looked at the menu last year and it looked expensive, so didn't bother.

Bamboos was the worst meal ive had over here, had the meze, it was awful. Second worst would go to Alexis on Dhekelia Road. Both these restaurants always seem busy as well!

We can also highly recommend Bambos in Xylotympou - the pork chops are sensational. It was originally recommended to me by my brother who was based in Dhekelia during his Army years and it is well used by the locals - which is always a good sign. In fact, when we were there a few years ago, we were the only Brit couple in there!

I must have just had a bad experience at Bamboos then- there was a Christening going on there and they had a buffet laid out, but we were there before, ordered a meze and it was truly awful- the worst meal ive had in cyprus in 13 years ive holidayed/lived here and i had wanted to try it because of recommendations. I realise that the Christening may have taken up there cooking time but i'd rather had been turned away then dished up the c**p that we were dished up!!
