Ok what is it with me and dogs???

I found a dog who had been hit on the Nicosia highway last night. She is a beautiful full breed large pointer, and in very good condition! It looks like she has broken off her chain and wondered onto the highway.
I have taken her to the vets where she is being looked after at the moment.
The thing is she has a number tattoed in her ear - can anyone help as to how we trace the owner of the dog as she must be missed by someone as she is so well looked after?

Help

Hi,
Well done for picking the pointer up and taking care of her. It's a side of life in Cyprus that I'm sadly all too familiar with.
For the tattoo, I think I'm correct in saying that you will have to contact the Cyprus Kennel Club - they do the tattooing so should have the records. I think they are only open in the mornings.
I could be wrong, but even if I'm not I'm sure they'll point you in the right direction.
The telephone numbers I have for the Kennel Club are:
22 672803
22 677488
22 677102
and fax: 22 669407
email:
They have a website too... but it gives very little info: www.cypruskennelclub.net
Apparently, there is also a Cyprus Pointer & Setter Club. President - Yiannakis Vassiliou. Tel: 99645000

Hope this helps!

Did the vet scan her for a chip?
