VTB is 'strong' in a way it is a Russian State owned bank. But it makes a lot of stupid investments and loosing a lot on every move they do.

well smally i would rather have money in a state owned russian bank thats not owned by a bankrupt state that has loads of oil deposits and gas reserves
if they do take over i think depositors should be more at ease

Souvlaki101, I got the point, but VTB not confirming the deal. Let's wait and see. It is important for me as well, my wife has a deposit account there with around 100K euros.

i am sorry to hear that well they did try to buy last year when it was called marfin so for everyones sake lets hope the deal goes ahead now that they dont have a choice and idiots that where involved before could not close the deal, this will take it away from government control so whats left of your money should be safe, well another thing if we leave and go back to cyprus pounds deposit rates may go back as they where to 9 percent so you may recover whats lost in a couple of years, this also goes if we stay in euro you may get a higher rate.

Not sure anymore. What if they say next month that 6.75-9.9 was enough? And cut the rest twice? Besides, all the banks must follow State rules, doesn't matter where are shareholders from. So, doesn't matter if a bank is Russian or Chinese owned.

The popular bank, what a strange name for a bank that seems to have pissed quite a few people off, is one of the biggest causes of all this bolux.

'popular' is the name aimed directly at us, 'investors' ie
people who put their hard earned labour into a system full of ego inflated individuals who then gamble, spread rumours, won't go on as i've promised to be good.

'trust in me' from the snake in the jungle book, kipling i.e.

NEVER TRUST ANYBODY WHO TELLS YOU TO AND THEN BEHAVES IN THE EXACT MANNER WHICH SHOWS THEM TO BE LIARS - or powerless, whatever hat fits.

remember the phrase 'never a borrower or a lender be'? Give with abandon, receive equally graciously, coin is from the dark side.

as it happens today, here in cyprus, confidence in banks is at an all time low not news, as 'economy' MSM babble rants on all news internet and television channels, what exactly does the 'economy' contribute to the quality of our lives?

'why'?

because banks do not produce anything tangible/edible/healthy which makes life for us folk ( not communists nor collectivists) more tasty, make us laugh and be happy, share our troubles, nor do they do anything other than

play with the emperor's new clothes.

ignore the elephant in the room.................

put your money in ANY bank at your peril.

? Try something truly radical and spend these pieces of tin and paper on something which feeds family, friends, contributes to general health, a feeling of 'belonging' in a real sense, not what some stranger spouts on a box which hypnotises and induces sleep? Increase your circle of trust?

when we wake up to the illusion and vote with our feet, then we'll remember what life is all about in my case, in the case of my circle of friends, family acquaintances, respect is tantamount, nobody is more 'equal', it can't be 'branded' as anything, lies identified at fifty paces and those souls avoided without violence. yes, we are armed here and well done for that

because

if EU/NATO/UN/US/UK/Military - of any description lands in my neck of the woods....................... watch out................... paper licences and 'officials' are NOT welcome here. on invitation only do you set foot in my piece of heaven. nobody else is welcome. no it's not a threat, if you like to make ass u me ptions ........ that's my life, our life, the world's life. reality

we, we are what we are, we all get second chances, timing is paltry, but our choices are what shape our lives

Bigade, as a kitchen hand at Fan's post departure - of you? All that can be said is much fun, loads of laughter and I'm sorry you left, is all

tora, allah, ta banda.........na sas gala! sto gallo! ........ chero bollu!

diaskethazoume!

and if anyone has read my previous posts they will know the bank pissed me off big time so much so that I moved my money to the co-op --
they have no idea about customer relations or service
they deserve to fail -- just feel sorry for those who still have accounts with them

the boys are may give the bank to the russians for 1 euro, this makes sense why take 4.5 billion of just the russians and not let them take over, about time we needed a kick up the backside to get the old grey matter working well there all a bit old in the government

The Greeks have said they will not buy the Popular Bank's (or those of any of the other Cypriot banks) Greek operations until the measures from the Troika are agreed.

Currently watching live what is happening in the House of Representatives, the Troika deal is dead in the water!

The only thing that is obvious now is that we are going to be screwed, we are just deciding if it is going to be the Krauts or the Russkies!

They think its all over, well it is now!

I think I might have plagiarised that statement.
