we are moving to Cyprus this next Oct/Nov 2011 and hope to rent an apartment preferably in Kapparis for approx 12 months first before commiting to buying. The only thing is we have a small, clean, very well behaved yorkshire terrior dog.. would that be a problem for us when it comes toi renting..? We have had her for 10 yeats so we obviously can't leave her behind. The other question we have is do most of the long term rental properties have satallite TV already installed..? it would be nice for us to have access to a bit of UK TV when we want. If it didn't would it be possible for us to get this connected like you do in the UK..? obviously we wouldn't be able to start installing large satallite dishes onto the balcony..? Any help would be much appreciated.... thanks very much.
Some owners will not rent to pet owners but in the current market providing you will cover any damage done then most owners would be ok. In the UK pets are generally only allowed with the Management Companies approval, here approval is seldom required.
Generally you will not get UK TV channels with apartment rentals as the dishes are too small. What you will get is English speaking channels and BBC World Service etc (normally at zero running cost and about €240 upfront cost if your apartment doesn't already have it). Worth asking the property owner to contribute to the installation unless you plan to take it with you to your next property.
To obtain English TV most people access it via broadband (say €60 per month) and dozens of channels (but probably illegal).
