does anyone know of a good GP in Oroklini or Pyla areas/
there must be some i Larnaca town of course but wd prefer someone closer at hand.
Had a nasty bout of ?IBS yesterday and realized know no doc to hand!
p.s. shall ask the local chemist when next stagger over but in the interim ...
There is a new medical centre opened next to the florists in Oroklini village. Going into the village past the Bank and before the supermarket on the other side of the road. I have never been but it may be worth a look, if not I have GP that I use in Larnaca near the Post Office.
I have used the gp surgery in Oroklini. I went in and had my appointment then came out to pay my bill. The next lady went in, closed the door and started to tell the doc all about her 'problem', I could hear everything, and so could everyone else!! maybe not a good place to go if your need to discuss things of a 'personal' nature? I had to laugh while on my appointment. The doc ponged of smoke and kept fiddling with his packet of fags. Whilst he was fiddling, I couldnt help but notice the paint all over his hands and his dress code. I thought he looked more like a developer. I looked around the office and there were medical books mingling with the 'construction' files. He is a specialist general surgeon. He was very nice and did a great job for me. Just remember to speak really quietly though. hehehe
well that sounds a bit discsoncerting. surprised ath the tobacco smells. I gather he did not actualy blow smoke over you though?!
I had a nsty pain earlier this week whch wd have needed a gstroenterologist so if it recurs taht is whom I shall see. does one need to make an appointment or is it walk in? what about payment? rivate or can one use cyhprus medical card? (not that hve one yet but handy to know just in case it does arrive soon as it shoud ..).
A bit disconcertig with everybody being able to hear everything. shall try to remember not to talk loudly if/when have to go there whch wil proabbly tbe to interpret for french speaking rbto so the listeners wil have to be trilingual to get the full drift of the consultation-=french, english and greek!
Actually, I was with my husband. Deciding it best to be with him as the other GP I made an appointment for said the office had not been built yet, but we could meet on the the large empty plot where it was GOING to be built just off the Dekelia Rd. Hillarious, can you just imagine it, like a scene from Monty Python, all the tourists stopping to have a nosy. I cant wait until I need a gynae appt! They do have an appointment system in the Oroklini one, but you can be seen straight away if there are no victims (I mean patients...ooops), the cost was £20 for the consultation and £30 for some blood tests. All proving that I am incredibly healthy I may add.
I just stopped by there en route back from Universal Life insurance company - there are in same area along with chemist. Makes sense!
the director, who seems to run a property business too, said a consultation incuding medical history wd cost CYP 20 which is reasonable. Normally by apt but in an emergency one can ring up.
the insurance co cd throw no light on the quality of care there cos too new but did give me a GP's name in Larnaca so now I have 2 names lus someone local in case of an emergency.
With all this biking & walking never felt fitter so hopefully shall not have to see a GP in a long while. However one never knows of course.
so thaks fr all the feeedback.
As fr seeing a doc in an as yet unbuilt place, well the chap sure had plenty of "fantasia"!!
