Hello.

Lynn and I are considering buying an apartment in the Famagusta region and have seen a number of advertisements in the Liopetri area. We have recently returned from holiday in Kapparis and found that to be a nice area which is obviously up and coming. Could anyone give us a brief overview of Liopetri and what is happening there development wise? Is it well situated for the main tourist areas, transport etc?

As you have guessed we are in the initial research stages. Thanks for your patience!! Very Happy

Michael

Hi,

There are several new developments in and around the village of Liopetri, and if you have been doing your homework you will also have noticed that that are excellent value for money. This is probably due to the fact that unlike some of the other places that you mentioned, the village is not on the beaten tourist track (and hopefully it will largely stay that way). I have yet to see a bus pass through the village but then to be honest, I havenít spent much time looking. The village centre has several coffee shops, kebab shops, a couple of banks, several small supermarkets and a few other everyday facilities. It is about 10mins by car to Agia Napa, 15/20 mins to Protaras and about a 5 mins to the nearest beach.

It all depends on what you are looking for: Holiday home/rental or somewhere to live? If it is the first then you might want to be by the sea, if it is to live in all year round then you might want to be inland. Developments by the sea tend to be desserted and closed in the winter months where the villages inland are 'open for bussines' all year round.

We have had a place (holiday home at present) in Liopetri for 1 year now and have found that everything that we need is there, the only thing that it hasn't got is an ATM!

One of the developments 'Liopetri Gardens' i think is advertised as completion 06, yet not a shovel of soil has been moved on the site.

Hi M & L
We moved into our apartment in Liopetri in july 2005 and really love it. The area is quiet, and yet close enough to the resorts if you want some excitement.
We use the apartment for holidays at the moment, but intend to retire there at a later date. Meanwhile we have had no trouble letting it out if you want an income.
In fact we like the area so much we have bought another apartment nearer to the village off plan
