Hi,

I am not sure if anyone else has thought of this or not, but is there any kind of swap shop in place for old uniforms?

I know for my own son, his uniform for the Pafos English school is as good as new, so I have advertised for anyone with a boy of younger age, they can have it to save them money.

Does anyone do this for the Med Junior? as I will have to buy his uniform, but if a pupil has outgrown his and the parents would like to sell it for a smaller price than buying from new, I would be interested.

It makes sense for parents to have a swap shop facility so as to help each other out?

Any thoughts on this would be great! Very Happy

hello E, its Eleni, as you know having twins for us its double the expence, if you find out what grade your son will be in when he goes back in September I know you can buy the books for half the price from his form tutor, as each form at med junior has an end of year sale of books so you buy from there as the first port of call, some of the books cost 75 euros each to purchase them from a shop so it makes sence to buy pre loved ones...

As for the uniform, we do a similar thing in the UK with our school uniform via the PTA we sell each piece for 2 euros and that goes towards the school kiti for the kids and on the last day of term supply each of the 227 kids with a free magnum or similar.

But, unfortunately, the PTAs dont work the same over here, but I am sure it can be arranged if someone wants to do it that is.... so sorry about that but the books for a definate...

I have just been told that you can go to the "Academic Bookshop" in Larnaca it is walking distance from the school - may have some second hand books for the same price we pay for SH books at the school sale.

You can get SH books from the Academic and General book shop in Ermou Street in town - Anita deals with it all, she is upstairs in the bookshop. You can also buy all of the stationary needed from there as well, Anita normally has a list of what each class teacher has requested each child in the class has.

Unfortunately, if you have to buy the books new it does become very expensive! Almost all of the books are hardbacks and are big and heavy, you might want to invest in a schoolbag on wheels, lots of the junior school children use them.

Best if luck and happy spending!!! Smile

Yes, Ben has a kind-of suitcase that he used for his old school in Pafos. I can't remember ever having that many books as a child!

I will get directions from the school to this shop so I can stock up with all he needs.

Very exciting and nerve racking for us all! Confused
