My wife and I are retired and will be moving to Cyprus in October. I am required to take medication on a daily basis, and would like to know if the Cypriot NHS will provide these free of charge. We will be applying for the E121 form here in UK. Would appreciate any information regarding medical provision for retired EU citizens.
Good luck with your move. There is lots of info regarding this, try the FAQ section or the Dr's, Hosp,Health & Medicines. Also I'm sure others can point you to the many discussions that we have on the forum regarding health matters.
The E121 will indeed open the door for you to get good treatment & almost all medications are free (there is only one tablet out of six my hubby Bigal takes that he has to get a private prescription for). It only cost €2 each time you see a Dr at the hospital
I am diabetic (type 2) and have to take a few tablets every day.I get all my medication free - after paying 2 euros to ask the doctor to fill in my prescription form.My wife is 60+ and therefore entitled to the same treatment a Cypriot would be and I as her partner am entitled to the same.
You need to register with immigration first and then go to the hospital and register with them.
Its all in the FAQ section.
