We may have a chance to sell our car, and I'm really anxious to know the correct procedure, after reading some stories of problems arising years later. Is this correct (I've read the sticky but still unsure):

The seller and the buyer go together to the Citizens Service Centre (in Dherynia near the fire station?). They have the transfer form given to them, it is filled in and all the necessary stamps applied. And that's it? No need to go to the Muktar?

Log book and id needed, but no insurance or road tax for the seller as the car being sold is declared off road? The buyer then sorts out the tax and his insurance?

I'd be really thankful for confirmation.

Using the Citizens Service Centre is the easiest way to transfer ownership. Your understanding is correct....any outstanding road tax must be paid before the transfer will be completed. Not too sure about cars declared off road as mine have always been a straightforward transfer.

Seller needs to provide log book and ID (they have generally asked for my yellow slip). Buyer needs to provide ID and an insurance certificate to prove that insurance is already in place for the car.

You only need to get the muktar involved if you sign the transfer form and pass to the buyer for them to process, rather than going with them to the CSC (only done this once). In that case, I also provided a copy of my passport and prepared a sales invoice which was signed by both parties.
