Everyone seems to be rushing . If the complete list of doctors has not been released yet , how can you choose one ?. Sure if people are just sticking a pin in the paper on the list as it exists are soon going to overload these and won't be accepted anyway.
Can't for the life of me imagine why the partial list was published in the first place !

Our usual local hospital GP is on the list. Should I go through the online thing or perhaps just me and Mrs T pay him a visit? Confused

I find picking a GP at the hospital confusing. Assume when registered with 1 you only see that doctor. But have never seen the same GP on the 3 occasions I have been there. Assume they all work different times or days. Know that is how the paediatricians work & have to go a particular day of want to see 1. But would be nice to pick someone you actually know
Then like the whole process will have to wait and see

Understand the way you register with GP & when needed they refer you to specialist doc. But at the moment with kids you just say at reception you want to see a paediatrician Works great & never waited more than half hour

I would say yes .
I had an appointment with my doctor some months ago and when the consultation was over we started discussing the scheme . She asked if we wanted to go on her list , we said yes , gave her all our particulars ID etc and she processed it .
I must say our doctor is private but a friend of ours was at the hospital two weeks ago and the doctor asked her the same question and did the same for her .
So go try I say

That very question is giving me concern. I attend the village doctor (He visits twice a week and also local villages other days). Virtually everytime I see him other than straight prescription renewals he refers me to a doctor in Paralimni hospital. I wonder why I queue up to see him which is often a whole morning only to repeat the exercise at Paralimni hospital.

As I put on an earlier post whilst stage 1 registration was straight forward I cannot progress on the GESY site which fails to register my post codes. Enquiring at the doctors on Wednesday I got the standard leaflet (In Greek) so may wait another few weeks to see if the system changes. At the hospital two weeks ago the "European office" at that time had no guidelines relating to expat residents.

Seems a bit like the income tax saga last year and waiting 3 months gave them a chance to sort it out.

Well--I've managed to register both of us to our favoured GP ....we are both Cyprus citizens though ,but it still took a virtual open university degree to get there ! User friendly the site is not !

Mrs T and I turned up at the local hospital reception today. We were armed with our passports, yellow slips and a utility bill for each (proof of address). They logged onto the GESY website and registered us there and then, the whole thing probably took less than 10 minutes. Perhaps we were just lucky but after all the fuss it seemed a doddle.

Our local doctor has registered my husband. Husband has duly signed and dated the form BUT it is all in greek. Where do we send it off to, with a copy of his S1 and MEU paperwork? Have e/mailed them, but still waiting for an answer.

If your doctor has taken all of these details then he/she should do all that

Mr Tibbs....Thank you for sharing.... that is very helpful to know....

The local hospital to which you refer.... is that Paralimni (not Larnaca)? If so, did you go to the reception in the old or new hospital?

Thanks...
Mils

I'm probably going to disappoint. We have a very good small hospital/old folks home (Melathron) in the village of Palodia, north of Limassol. Initially I went to see my GP there but he told me that registrations were being done at reception. The rest is as per my previous.

This morning I received emails from GESY saying my wife and I have been accepted.

So I've just registered us both with our local doctor (she knows us well and we share the same birthday.)

Now just waiting for her to accept us on her list.

The GESY website is about as user friendly as a cornered rat, but I got there eventually.

Cheers,

We've both been accepted - now a quick trip to the GPs surgery to sign a couple of forms.

Cheers,

If I can jump in - for us we posted the forms to Nicosia on 3 May and received the acceptance email on 10 May.
I show as a dependant of my wife, despite both having S1s.
She has already had deductions for GESY taken from her Cypriot pension.

so they still make your wife pay as she has a cypriot pension despite having a S1 doesnt seem right or fair. did think they might charge us by mistake but as dont get a cypriot pension they would have to request payment so could query it
