All,

What spec of pool pump would suit a 9x4m pool, I currently have a 2HP 24m3/hr pump, I've been told it is over spec for my pool and a less powerful pump will perform well enough for my pool and save me electric.

Other owners views on their pool pumps and ones to avoid, if any, would be great. Ive got to replace the pump I've got, Acqua source Life 200M so suggestions very welcome.

Thanks

Rather than change the pump if it is too big ie using too much electricity for what you need, run it for less time.
If your 9x4m pool is 2m deep at one end and 1m deep at the other you take a mean figure 2+1=3 half that = 1.5m, the way to calculate the volume of water will be 9x4x1.5= 54m3.
Pool filters and pumps are supposed to be able to process all of the pool water in a 4 hour cycle.
As yours pump shifts 24m3 per hour if you run it for 2.5 hours per day during use it should do the trick.

Hi UD, thanks for that very informative post. My pump has unfortunately seized, so I need to replace it anyway.
I take it the time running depends on how many people use the pool and how often the pool is used.

Any pump suggestions and suppliers? Recommended so far is the ESPA Silen S 60m.

Thanks

Four hours per day should cover it for normal 2-4 people usage if the pool begins to get cloudy then up the amount of hours to increments of 1 hour at a time until you get the right balance. This is assuming all the other pool operations are done correctly with chemicals etc
I dont live on the eastern side so I cant recommend any suppliers.

Go and see Emilio at Basics (almost opposite Lidl on 1st April St in Paralimni) he carries various pumps in stock and all the chemicals needed, he's very knowledgeable and will advise you on what's required.
