Sure you have seen the fierce debate over recent weeks about Leeds
Manager Bielsa sending someone to spy on Derby's training.

Whilst it could be argued that it's not very sportsmanlike I think it's
a bit of a storm in a tea cup. Clearly i'm not an expert on football and
thought checking out the opposition before a big match was par for
the course - clearly not!

Will have to wait and see what the EFL decide and whatever penalty
they impose.

I think for Bielsa it was common practice in the past and didn't see anything
much wrong with being fully prepared.

So what do you think? Cardinal sin or storm in a tea cup??

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve,

The media and other managers are saying it is not right, it is immoral, it is cheating. Well my opinion is that no crime has been committed, it is not illegal, the spy apparently was watching from a footpath or close to. I am sure Mr. Lampard and other managers could spend more time educating their players not to dive and cheat during games, in my opinion it is far worse, but Mr. Lampard was a rather clever player when it came to the act of cheating, short memory!
Cheating is ruining the game, I hate it, players rolling around screaming because someone pulled their shirt!!!!

Hi Steve - good to see you and hope you are well!!

As far as the football.... bang on I say - I was going to mention the theatrics
on the pitch! I just hope that we don't get a harsh punishment as we have
a history of getting those imo. Plus I think Bielsa is a good manager overall
and has certainly given the fans some optimism after many years. Wink

Agreed! Hope that the EFL see it that way Smile

A few weeks back one (retired) English professional footballer reported that, as preparation for a match overseas, they were training in the stadium the where the match was due to take place the following day. He was practicing taking penalties and repeatedly kicking the ball into one corner of the goal. His manager went to him and told him to practice kicking to the opposite corner as there was somebody from their opponents watching the training.

However I do see a difference between this and the secretive actions carried out at Derby's private training ground.

The Leed's employee was "escorted from the training ground" and was carrying binoculars and wire-cutters (although no damage was reported).
