I have not registered yet for the new system.

Yes, I know I should have, but I have not yet.
I found that I needed my yellow slip which I have never been asked for in my thirteen years here, could not find it so had to get a form from Paralimni court. Got that a nd took it to immigration who gave me new pink slip. They could not explain to me where or how to register for.the new system. I read about something called an meu3, what is that,? ,and where do I get it from? Where do I have to go,? And what forms or paperwork do I have to take with me.?
I am an 82 year old retired ex pat.
I do not mind waiting my turn, but don't want to find I have forgotten something and need to return to whatever office I am sent to!

Any help appreciated,
Thanks

BJ

As I understand it a MEU1 (which is how your yellow slip is called nowadays) will suffice to register for GESY.
You´ll be entitled to a MEU3 once you´ve lived here for at least 5 years. It comes with additional entitlements which you don´t have if all you have is a MEU 1 (e. g. caregiving under certain circumstances).

I found out through Mr George at Derynia tax office, "if you have a white medical card with E121 or S1", on same line as your name, you are already registered as an OAP.
Just a copy of med.card with GESY application is suffice.

It seems different people have to supply different documents.. My wife and I are in the Paphos area, and we had a joint medical card with E121 on it. We joined up via a local doctor..
We also had to supply our Yellow slips, and a Utility bill. because my wife's name was not on utility bills I had to supply a letter to say that we had been living together in Cyprus for 12 years.. But at least we are members of Gesy now and are on the list of our chosen GP..

Thats how i think it should work, we have the white medical cards which obviously to me prove we had S1 forms.
Really think now i should have gone to hospital & asked to register but was pleased i eventually got the online registration to work until it said pending until i send lots of paperwork to Nicosia. including copy of our S1 forms which i dont have

Thinking of just going to hospital but will us being on system as pending mean they cant do it

We got signed up today, and it took nearly 5 minutes.

Went to Dr. Ahmad Krayem ( Protaras medical center).

Took our yellow slips and E121 card , was seen by Mary the receptionist , she entered our yellow slip numbers and names, they came up straight away.

She completed the registration, the Doctor signed them, we added our signatures, gave us copies. All done.

By the time we got home received confirmation by email from GESY.

By the way he is accepting new patients.

His wife runs the Pharmacy almost next door.

Brilliant service.

where is Protaras medical centre? did google it but only came up with 3 clinics with other names

How will it work if registered with a private clinic but need to see a specialist or have operation which they do not do
At the moment daughter sees pediatrician and i am on waiting list for hip replacement. so thought would have to stay with hospital

The surgery is on the strip, about 100 yards past MacDonalds.
You will see a sign above, you will see a sign for the Doctor, just go up the stairs and you will see the signs, it is the end door.

Mary the receptionist is very helpful and will guide you.

As far as I am aware, they will still refer you to a specialist in the normal way.

With us, we were actually invited in to see the Doc. And he asked questions about any future appointments I have re specialists.
He asked to see my previous blood test results and asked when my next one is due. When I said about next Feb, he said he will do one in September.

I know the pharmacy is closed in winter. Presumably the doctor is available all year?

Sounds great & would be better not to have to go to paralimni to see a doctor. I’m just wondering how it would work when I am already on waiting list at hospital for hip replacement. Been on it 3 months & told usually around a year wait. If I’m with doctor somewhere else thinking would they maybe refer me somewhere else to start again on a waiting list Assume would still have op at general hospital anyway. Can’t see Gesy being generous enough to offer ops in private clinics

Guess I need to go in & ask all these questions. Do they have a paediatrician there? At the moment the 1 at hospital puts daughters pruvate prescription into a hospital 1 for us. Something I need to consider as concerta bought privately is nearly €100 a month

Yes the Doctor is available all year apart from 10 days over Xmas and New Year when he goes on holiday.

During that period I believe a locum will be available.

Also from what I understand the Pharmacy will be open all year.

Do you think there will be a locum system in place when doctors are on holiday ?
