No details are public and it may just be a wish list anyway.
Based on previous experience in Cyprus at the Pafos end it takes just on 2 years from the beginning of the groundwork to a course opening.
The lack of reservoir water in this area and again based on previous government announcements, it will likely mean it will have to have a desalination plant of its own to provide enough water for the fairways which would be in the region of 1 million litres per night during peak summer. I think they also insist that any course has to have its own mini wind farm or PV cells for electric supply.
The housing springing up around Paralimni Lake is already destroying the habitat in that area, so perhaps they will look once again at the Kokkines area. Who knows at present we can only speculate.

Last week a proposal for a course near Cape Greco was thrown out by the government's Environmental Committee.

However it is believed that with some changes the proposal will be able to
pass.

Regarding water the plan was that part of that would come from the nearby
sewerage works.

Whatever happens it would still be several years into the future before
anyone hits a ball.

Cheers

Hi Guys

Thanks for all the prompt information and somewhat downward information .

I was hoping from recent news progress was imminent.

I am fully aware of all requirements to construct a Golf Course and the dail demand for Irrigation.
I guess itís a case of ď Watch this Space ď

Many thanks

Les

Some time back the government said that all new golf courses had to provide the water they needed, i.e. have their own desalination plants.

They (Govt) have recently deregulated the construction/operation of desalination plants making it easier for private companies to build/operate.

Cheers
