The land registry had to parcel our development, they have been waiting for Sotira municipality. We approached them & told to get clean deeds we had to pay for the pavement and that would be all, 578 euros, which we did. Then we find out that was wrong as they now say we have an unlicensed pool, another hurdle.
Back in 2012 we registered under the amnesty & received the appropriate letter form the ministry, all well. It was in Greek so this is what we were told.
My question is was the Amnesty just a costly lesson in futility or does it mean something?

Hi Frankly

The Town Planning Amnesty didn't include unlicensed pools it was about planning infringements incuding overbuilding, lack of pavements, etc.

Your Management Committee needs to pursue the pool license - but as you may have read in my Cyprus Property News there are issues with pools in complexes.

Regards,

Thanks Nigel, our pool is in our garden at out Villa not a complex. Does this mean we needn't have paid for the pavement and they have also mentioned illegal storage room & pergola, is this covered ?The storage room is a shed & the pergola was on the original plans but we did put tiles in to make it water proof. All very frustrating & confusing. Just when we think we are getting the deeds another headache.

Hi Frankly

You don't need a iicense for a private pool. Is this something you put in that wasn't on the original plans?

And the changes you made by adding a storage room and changing the pergola - did you get planning permission for these?

Regards,

The shed was erected 12 years ago & the roof probably 6 years. Neither did I realize I needed planning for. Then thought they would be covered under the amnesty.

Hi Frankly

The Town Planning Amnesty didn't cover adding a roof to pergolas, etc. You can see what the amnesty was all about at http://www.news.cyprus-property-buyers.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Amnesty.pdf

You will need to get planning permission for the changes you made. (Generally speaking anything that changes the outward appearance of a property needs Planning Permission.)

Regards
