What makes you think I have a personal interest?

So basically it seems the Cosmos explanation is that their system (and its backup) went down because they were hacked.

It would seem very amateurish if their internet service and the tv service were both on the same server.

This is a quote from the role of a Moderator --
The moderator also protects the integrity of the discussion by doing away with contributions that are unlawful or illegal in any way such as defamatory statements

It hardly seems appropriate therefore that a Moderator should infer that someone is lying, without having any proof. As I said earlier you should remain impartial.

Just to clarify on the role of Moderators here on this forum. Their role is to
help ensure that the forum runs smoothly, they remove any spam and
unwanted ads and also move posts and topics that may breach our terms
for my review - i.e. to decide what action (if any) to take.

It's completely voluntary and over the many years that they have been
doing this they have invested lots of their own time, for free, to help the forum,
its members and me. Of course we don't always agree on every issue but
really I am thankful for their help and have every confidence in them.

With the above said as members of the forum they are fully entitled to their
own opinions and as with all members are subject to the same terms as
everyone else. I doubt anyone would take up such a position only to find
that they were not allowed a viewpoint.

Regarding Cosmos - I have not used them and therefore have no experience
of the level of service that they provide. Whilst I have heard many good
things about them I have also heard plenty of negatives. To be fair
sometimes people lay the blame at the ISP's door when there are many
other factors to consider. However clearly people have had issues as can
be found by searching the forum and elsewhere.

It is highly doubtful that Bob's comment is defamatory and it is extremely
mild compared to what is being posted elsewhere online. Other people
have also posted comments based on their own and others experiences
so I see no reason for preventing Bob doing the same.

Finally I am pleased to see that many/most customers of Cosmos that
have been experiencing loss of connectivity have now had this restored.
Going forward I hope that these issues are not repeated and lessons
can be learnt.

Cheers

Steve

I would expect you, and rightly so to defend your Moderators who on the whole do an excellent and at times difficult job. I have been a customer of Cosmas for 3 years and have been wholly satisfied with their service, I also appreciate that there are others who are less than happy, and obviously they are free to express their opinions. I also fully expect that Moderators have the right to participate in the discussions, however I still do not believe that to infer that the statement put out by Cosmas is untrue, is the correct behavior of a Forum Moderator.

So what you are saying is that Bob cannot infer that a statement put out by the Government/ BOC, CBI that in his opinion is a load of cobblers.

Thanks for the reply and understand what you are saying. Never had an issue
with your postings and appreciate your stance on this given your own good
experiences with Cosmos.

It's a difficult one as, for whatever reason, another explanation for the
problems was given so it should not come as a surprise that people will be
skeptical when that information changes.

There is certainly a fair amount of disquiet regarding this issue, the
communication and the subsequent explanation(s).

There may well be further information that we are not privy to that they
themselves or others have not made public as yet - I don't know but I think
on this one we will have to agree to dsagree.

Cheers

Totally disagree, I will also back up his statement after having really terrible service from them in the past, being fobbed off with excuses, why should anyone who has received this sort of service believe them?????
