Hi Nigel
Sorry to trouble you yet again but I cant seem to get my head around this property tax, we bought our apartment off plan in 2006 and paid in stages until the complex was completed when we handed over the final payment in 2008, as far as im aware we paid vat on the price which was 70k Cypriot pounds then converted into euro which I think was 105 k . we have since learnt the develoer then mortgaged the complex and he is now asking for a further 800 euro so we can get our deeds could you explain what we need to do
Best Regards
Pete

Pete - have they told you what exactly the 800 is for?

It could be for various different things like local taxes, sewarage etc

Cheers

Hi Pete

If the developer took out a mortgage after your contract was deposited at the Land Registry, it will not affect you.

As Steve has suggested, you need to find out what this 800 is for.

And did you apply for your Title Deeds ubner the provisions of the trapped uyers' law? - see http://www.news.cyprus-property-buyers.com/2016/05/17/applying-title-deeds/id=00126681

Regards,

Thanks for your input, we have a lawyer involved to secure our deeds for us as we have been promised the deeds every year for the past ten years and the developer has lied and spent money from the community fees hence we got a lawyer to sort out our deeds, our lawyer said the developer wants 800 euro before he will release proof of our payments, thats all I know at this time as our lawyer is still looking into things

Hi Pete

Ypu should have payment receipts - if not the bank can provide you with certified copies of your cheques.
