Richard Baker (aged 93), the first ever BBC TV newsreader.
He presented their first bulletin in 1954 and continued in that role until 1982, when he 'retired' and went on to do numerous voice overs (including children's tv programmes) as well as working for radio, often presenting classical music programmes.
Even in his later years (in a care home) he read the newspapers aloud to his fellow residents.
I had the pleasure of meeting him once. A true gentleman and broadcasting legend.
