A friend of mine is selling his apartment valued around 55,000, I have phoned two solicitors on his behalf and both have quoted me the minimum price they can charge. Does anyone know of a solicitor in Paralimni who does not charge the minimum price?. Thanks in advance for any information.

To be clear this means that the Cyprus Bar Association cannot force solicitors
to charge a minimum fee - it doesn't mean that the solictors won't still charge
the same amount. One would hope that competition on prices between solicitors
would come into play and prices will come down but that is not a given.

Cheers

Steve

THE MINIMUM LAWYERS FEES HAVE BEEN CONSIGNED TO THE WASTE BIN!!

An extraordinary meeting was held on the 19th June 2018 at which the Cyprus Bar Association (CBA) decided to abolish the Minimum Fee Regulations immediately in their entirety, which included fees relating to the provision of out-of-court-cases.

I suggest you get a copy of the change in the law -

- take it to these lawyer, whose parents were clearly not married and who are trying to rip your friend off, and nail it to their foreheads.

I suggest you use of of the lawyers in Larnaca who are on the

There used to be one in Paralimni, but the British High Commission struck him off their list.

A bit of balance here, perhaps the lawyer, irrespective of fee structure, just won’t do it for less. Doesn’t mean he is ripping anyone off that is the least he will do the work for.

My uk estate agent has a min fee of 1000£ even though i am selling a property under 100,000£ and their charge is 1%.

No rip off if they tell you what the fee will be, it's up to the individual if they want to use them or not.

May not be a rip off but a bit deceitful or ignorant if they quote the minimum charge as if they have no option. Would you want to have a solicitor in these circumstances?
Paul.
