Ryanair pilots in Ireland start first strike

Pilots in Ryanair ‘s home country Ireland held a strike for the first time on
Thursday as they demanded better conditions from Europe’s largest low-cost
carrier, which is trying to stave off a wave of industrial action across Europe.

Around 100 of Ryanair ‘s 350 Irish pilots balloted to strike for 24 hours to
demand a more transparent system of pay, promotions and transfers, aiming to
limit what the FORSA/IALPA union says is excessive discretion management

He'll blame it on Brexit. Ryanair is so badly managed that for many people it is now the airline of last resort, a miserable journey to be endured for 4-1/2 hours. I find for a few Euros more you get a better service and extra small hand baggage on B.A.

Except that passenger numbers have increased on Ryanair flights over the
last 12 months by 7% to 12.6million with a 96% load factor! Can't be that
badly managed Wink

If you select to filter out all flights over Europe bar Ryanair on Flightradar24 the number of aircraft shown is gobsmacking. Shocked

The difference between Ryanair and BA is certainly much more than a few Euros. I agree there are bad management practices leading to cancelled flights due to being short of staff and this is probably going to get worse. However if your flight goes I cannot see how bad management can lead to a 4.5 hour miserable flight. As Mr Tibbs says people are voting with their wallets and flying Ryanair and more are doing so. I just wish they flew to more than 1 destination from Larnaca.
