Apartments left out of bill to regulate internet rentals of holiday homes
A bill aiming to regulate and tax holiday rentals on platforms such as AirBnB will
cover villas and homes but not apartments and individual rooms. There are
some 20,000 such holiday villas in Cyprus.
The bill was submitted by DISY’s Averoff Neophytou and EDEK’s Elias Myrianthis
who left out a large number of premises to preempt protests and because of
legal complications. They said the new regime will be extended at a later stage.
Until then, apartments will continue to be rented over the internet without
being checked by authorities... [
