Hi,

Anyone else having problems with the strength of their wifi signal? My friend and I who both live in Vrysoulles now have a very weak signal so can't get wifi in the next room. Have been able to do this for years until yesterday. No new equipment or anything else which could interfere with the signal has been introduced in the house.
Suddenly happened yesterday afternoon. Have tried all the channels to no avail and have spoken to Cyta who have said change the Modem.

Any ideas?

Regards,

Anne

Reboot your router. It needs to be done regularly, you should notice the difference immediately.

When you rebooted did you also completely disconnect the plug and wait a few minutes before plugging it in again?

Might be getting interference from Ay Nic. which could weaken signal.

We are in Vrysoulles and not having any issues so I doubt Ayia Nic is the cause, besides the op said the problem has only just occurred.
Can you get CYTA to do a phone line check to see if the fault lies there.

Perhaps it could be where you are in Vrysoulles.

When my brother in law lived there for example we could not get a phone signal out the back, but in the front area of the house no problem.

When I used to play golf at Ay Nik could not get a signal by the club house sometimes, so had to wait till we got away from the camp before getting a line.

Hi,

It's unlikely that a problem with the WiFi signal strength is related to
CYTA line issues.

If you try moving your device into the same room as the router is the signal strong?

It could be that there is interference on the channel that you are using -
maybe someone has moved in near you or another device in the house is
conflicting with the same one as your WiFi.

You can change the channel and it is something of a growing issue in
the UK at least. Here's some more info about getting a good signal:

Thanks Steve,

The problem seems to have coincided with a number of owners turning up and using wifi. I have tried all channels and have definitely not installed any new equipment but a neighbour has a Short Circuit antenna which was adjusted and I am wondering if that is causing interference.
I will swap the Modem as Cyta suggest but it may be a case of waiting for owners to go back to the UK.

Unless they are using yours it should make no difference . Did you change your password as suggested.? I had an experience a few years back where 5 were logged onto mine lol

It can certainly make a difference as the article explains - it's a WiFi
signal strength issue which is usually caused by interference of one
type or another or less often faulty hardware.

It's not lack of speed/bandwidth which is what is usually associated with
people piggy-backing your connection.

Cheers

Excuse me. Was just trying to help by suggesting something easy.
It certainly made a difference to our viewing when CYTA changed our password. There were days before the change where we got practically nothing on television.
I bow to your superior knowledge as i know absolutely nothing about the workings of wifi

No problem I know you were trying to help - as I was when I linked to the
article that explained interference.

Cheers
