Morning hope some one can help. My landline phone broke and my Dad gave me one he had spare so I plugged it in charged it etc., and all seemed fine until i tried to use it I couldn't make or receive calls. I decided maybe it was no good threw it away. My husband bought a new one from the UK and the same problem?. Doesn't make sense, Any advise would be welcome. Thanks x

There may be different technical standards. When I had brought a wireless landline from Germany to South Africa I had to have a technician do some changes before I could use it. Maybe itīs a similiar problem? Wouldnīt hurt to ask Cyta about it.

Phones between the UK and Cyprus do not need any adjustment.

Make sure you use the correct lead that came with the phone. I am guessing you are using a lead with the std white BT connector to the wall? Are you sure the handset and base are paired?

When you go off hook, do you hear a dial tone?

If not then it may well be your line not the phone. You will still need Cyta to verify that the line to your property is functioning ok before you blame the phone.

You may like to try the phone on a good known line and see if it works there, if it does then your line is the problem.
Jeba:

Germany and the UK have a different wiring configuration, they will not work immediately but need a slight re-adjustment.

Hi my old phone was broken as it not holding the charge for very long. New batteries didn't help? I used it prior to plugging new one in and used it just fine. My internet is all good so guess the cyta line is fine as well ??

We brought our phones from the UK and these wouldn't work at first, spoke to Cyta who said the base unit should be connected via the modem and is plugged into the Volp1 connection.

Thats not necessary. the uk phones work in Cyprus with no mods needed hardware wise.
