I want to have a go at replacing my rotted fly screens. Had no problem getting the mesh but finding it very difficult to get the rubber splines that hold the mesh and the rotary tool to fit them. I have tried Home and Wood, Stekas DIY,
and Superhome and Bricolage in Larnaca. Basics in Dherynia says he has the splines in Ayia Thekla but not the tool. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Paul.

Hi,
Probably not a lot of help, but I do know that Joe who makes screens in Cyprus, made his own years ago, because unable to purchase one, I believe.

Hi Tony,
Thanks for the feedback. I decided to have a go using what I had to hand.
A small flathead screwdriver to start removing the old spline.
A large ditto for pressing the spline back in around the corners.
The thin end of half a wooden clothes peg to clean out the groove.
A stanley type knife where the blade can be set so it only protudes about an 1/8''. This minimises the risk of cutting the wrong side of the spline when trimming the excess.
Our cutlery has a large round end to the handles of just the right thickness which pushed the splines in a treat.
A bowl of soapy water lubricates the spline so it goes back in easily.
I found the existing splines where in good condition so reused them.
Youtube has lots of how to clips.
Paul.

Hi SP1,
If I remember correctly Joe's had a wheel made from old 2p coin.
Good luck anyway.
