Wondering if anyone here knows the rules on stand up paddle boarding inside the red buoys.
I've just taken up the sport so I'm a beginner and not really confident to go out that far yet, I'm a competent swimmer but the further out you go the choppier it gets.
I'm paddle boarding in Larnaca bay (Oroklini) so it's never that busy in the sea and I am paddling between the sea breaker rocks and the buoys so not in the shallow bit where children may be bathing and a general higher density of people.
I figure that as I don't go very fast and I'm standing up so I have an excellent view of anyone around me it should be ok.
I might go an ask the watersports people but thought I'd ask here as well.
The red buoys mark the swimming area. Powered boats (including jet-ski's) are not allowed within a buoyed area unless a specific channel has been marked out, this is so that areas used for launching boats etc have an access route through the swimming areas.
I often see stand-up boards being used outside of the swimming area, along with swimmers.. Whilst there are no rules against this, the buoys are there to protect the swimmers from all types of water vessels
