I am pleased to report that IObit Malware Fighter has just sent me two patches for protecting Windows expressly against WannaCry ransomware. All free and without being asked. Thank you IObit.

The patches for Windows should come from Microsoft, not IOBit. I would be weary if you got a Windows patch from somewhere other than Microsoft (via Windows' built in updates).

Automatic patches/updates were not applicable versions of Windows no longer supported by Microsoft such as XP, Windows 8 and Windows server 2003. They have all now had patches released, but they are still obtained directly from Microsoft.

All my Windows 10 computers automatically patched themselves for the vulnerability weeks ago Very Happy

I suggest that you scan your PC with a good virus/ransomware scanner to make sure these alleged patches have not infected your computer.

As Mark has said Windows patches are issued by Microsoft and provided you keep Windows updated patches to fix Wanna Cry will have already been applied.

Regards,

Perhaps "patch" was not the right word. But I've been using IObyt Malware fighter for many years now and scanned with them after installing their "thingy" I am satisfied the download came from them. But thanks for wanting to be helpful.
