I think for the wedding to be held here and recognised as legal in Cyprus and other countries, you would need it to be a Civil ceremony.

That can still be outdoors - there are plenty of beach and countryside venues in the RoC which are licensed for Civil Weddings. Also providing the opportunity for your own vows.

I know Humanist weddings are legal in Scotland, but not the rest of the UK, and not in most other countries but are often a sequal to a Civil ceremony.

If that's what you want and you're not concerned about the legality of the Humanist ceremony, then you've options here.

Journo - thank you for the reply. We're not worried about the legality of the ceremony.

We are going to do the legals in a registry office in the UK before the wedding to avoid any complications of a marriage abroad.

Maybe contact the Cyprus Humanists Association?

I know they have a web page in Greek at:
www.cyprushumanists.org

You can email them at:

They also have a facebook page and a Twitter account.
