You will need some type of computer of some sort (e.g. laptop. Raspberry Pi, Android tablet/box) to connect to the TV to watch programmes.

You will also need a method of obtaining a signal for the computer to receive programmes.

Is the wi-fi signal received in the complex encoded, or is it available to all residents who are given a password?

Will it give you a sufficient bandwidth to watch TV?

You'll need a VPN, which is a program that cons the BBC into thinking that your connection originates in the UK instead of Cyprus

For a vpn try hola which is free and works very well for me in the UK.

The beauty of it is it can be limited to say just chrome and not the whole computer. Excellent in the UK because bbc and itv iplayers won't let you use them.

NOT SUCH GOOD ADVICE APPARENTLY

follow this advice

Hi mlls, open google chrome and in the top right hand corner click on the 3 dots.In the drop down box click more tools then extensions. You will see Beebs - access iplayer click enable.I am on windows 10.I think also you can access Beebs on google search.Once enabled you just go to iplayer and it will play automatically and the same for itv player.

I chose Hotspotshield which works very well. Replace Beebs with vpns to find it.

VPN's slow down TV streaming considerably. If you have your own router a geo-unlocator is better and cheaper as that does not slow TV streaming.

Sharing a communal wi-fi signal may be very problematic depending on bandwidth and other users.

Get a Mag 250 or later version, many good providers about, I have two both use different suppliers and cost between €250 to €160 for twelve month subscription, EPG just like Sky at a fraction of the cost, even if you could get Sky, you cant now via satellite. You need 4 Megs minimum I have found.

If you have a smart TV you can watch BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, Sky News etc etc without a computer. If you set all the TV location options to UK, then depending upon the App Store that your TV supports you will see all the above apps and more.

Then get a SmartDNS service like My Private Network (which I use) or unlocator. SmartDNS, which as said before, doesnt hog your bandwidth like a VPN and follow their set up instructions and then you can view UK TV live and CatchUp depending upon the channel.

Although I have other systems I use this system a lot.

Alternatively you could get an Amazon Fire Stick and do the same as above as long as you have an HDMI slot on your TV. I set one up recently for a friend and it works very well.

I did try to follow Lecky's instruction but unfortunately it didn't work for me.
I opened Chrome and clicked on 'extensions' but sadly no Beebs and no VPNs...
I suspect that access to Beebs and the iplayer extensions are only available on the Windows 10 and above upgrades....
I am still using Windows 7 and Windows 8 on my laptop and tablet respectively....

You do have to do a little more work..........Once you get into "extensions" scroll down to "get more extensions" at the the bottom. Enter "beebs" into the search box and hey presto.........install........Simples....Don't think it matters about Windows 7,8,8.1 or 10

The Beebs icon will appear on the Chrome toolbar at the top of the page.

Second vote for Unlocator.com

For a few month I get all UK streaming and catchup services on the laptop and Amazon Firestick plugged into the TV. Including my UK relatives amazon prime account.

Its just changing the DNS settings, not hard just two sets of numbers once you know where in the settings of each device to find them and done, there is a handy tutorial on their site to install on each type of device.

Only thing that does not work on unlocator is spoofing Netflix to thinking your in the UK or US (but the normal Cyprus version is getting more and better content anyway, still not as good as the UK of US version but good in a pinch). But I think this is for everyone now, unless you go down the VPN route and i found the speed impossible to use when I tried that a few years ago.

Yes... I have now found the Beebs Chrome extension... thank you.
I have not yet installed it as I am feeling a little nervous having read a few reviews which mention page redirections and also malwares....
