Hence my big smile! Wink It's the most I've ever got for paying in sterling.

One of the shops here in Pyla takes Sterling for payment. I asked what their exchange rate was last week ...... 1.1

Err, I'll leave that then - here have the euros!

Mid rate was above 1.4 around the 10 march and briefly on 22 April. You certainly got a great rate.

What's CF peter?

I was mildly surprised to get over 1.3 when using my UK Visa Debit in the Co Op Bank ATM. That was a couple of weeks ago. I don't make a habit of it on account of the foreign transaction charge levied by UK bank. But just didn't expect it to be so good getting cash from ATM.

Andrew, CF mentions what you send and what receiver gets. Doesn't mention their fee?

Apparently its 3 euro per transaction not amount. I stand to be corrected if wrong but this is what I was told.

Yep, 3 euros fixed fee, no matter how much you transfer, absolutely brilliant service. I transferred some on Friday morning, in my BOC account later that afternoon.

I just needed to pay a Cypriot heating engineer for replacing my boiler, after job was done and checked by someone for me, we used our Currencyfair account to exchange the equilvant of 1500 he needed for the job...and sent from Currencyfair after transferring from UK bank account, straight into his in Cyprus...

As I hadn't used my Currencyfair account for a year, I got this transaction free of charge, so just got the exchange rate on the day which was very good...

He got the money in his bank the next day, as I'd done it in the afternoon...

We manage to pay anyone we need to this way nowadays as we no longer hold a Cyprus bank account....

The fee of 3 or 3 from Cyprus has been so for a few years too....as I opened our account with them in 2012.
