We are moving to Turkey and need a truck to either take our stuff all the way there or at least get it up to the Kyrenia Port where we can load it onto another truck to take the ferry and carry on.

We are having a really hard time to find anyone to do this. The Greeks say it is an illegal port and I am looking for suggestions. I would be happy to rent a mid sized truck myself and drive it but I dont have a licence to do so nor can I find a company renting them out.

Any suggestions please?

Try calling Gert on 99595165, as long as taking the goods into the North isn't actually illegal for the remover what you do with them there is down to you.

Wouldn't it make more sense to contact someone on the other side?

Cannot for the life of me understand why you'd post for information about transport to Turkey on a basically GC forum?

Well, I have had quite a few useful private messages arrive. I live in GC as the moment. Turkish drivers cannot come down to the Southern side and many people have suggested that ex pats from any nationality that may have the use of a truck may be interested to earn some extra money.

Turkish-Cypriots can travel anywhere in the RoC, Turkish settlers can't.

I have contacted over 8 Turkish Cypriot Removalist Companies (I speak Turkish) and not one has said they are allowed or will travel south. I have no idea why, they just say it is impossible.

May be easier and cheaper to sell all your stuff and buy new in Turkey. Save you a lot of hassle.

Seems extreme but what about out of Cyprus to Greece or similar and from there to Turkey?

I spoke to Gert who told me there is no problem taking household items into the North but a declaration must be made to the Turkish customs.
