in the case of a communal electricity bill not being paid resulting in the electricity being disconnected would the person who's name is on the bill be pursued by the electricity board for payment

We have a situation on out complex where the developer has disappeared and the lift and staircase lighting has been cut off, i have tried in vain to contact the developer, would anyone happen to have any ideas how we could go about solving the problem.

Kind regards

Neil

This happened on a complex where I own an apartment. The management committee had been paying the bills, but the power was still cut because the developer owed money elsewhere. We had to find another 500 in deposits before EAC would reconnect.

Hi Were you able to deal directly EAC ? We do not have a committee and our developer has gone missing, I was unsure if i called EAC that would deal with me, as i presume the common part electrics are in the developers name

Regards

Not actually with me, we have a residents/owners committee who had not transferred the common area electricity since taking on the responsibility for the complex .

The committee secretary contacted EAC and after a new deposit was paid the power was put into the name of the residents committee.

I think you have nothing to lose by going down to your nearest EAC customer centre. That is far better than phoning.
