A sure sign summer is here, the Kataklysmos flood festival, is upon us.
With the actual day this coming Monday (9th June) creating a welcome
long weekend for many, events in most seaside towns are due to begin
from Friday.

Celebrations include song, music and dance performances, often by
well-known Greek and Cypriot stars, as well as talented local groups and
performers. Stalls are set up along the sea-front in some towns and, on
the Monday in particular, look out because part of the Kataklysmos
tradition is for people, mainly children, to throw water at each other.

Kataklysmos 2014 events around Cyprus are listed [

Big congratulations to Larnaka for the town's Kataklysmos programme!
Phinoikoudes has been absolutely heaving with visitors in the evenings. I think there are more, bigger and better, stalls this year than ever before. With prices that are actually attracting people to buy!

More to the point, I've just got back from watching the Giannis Ploutarhos concert. [Even bigger congrats to Larnaka!]

An amazing singer - and a two and a half hour free concert. Tickets would normally cost you a neat 120-150 euros to see this guy. Such an incredible voice; such an audience-friendly performer. He even sang as he made his way slowly through the packed crowds on the seafront and the beach, to the absolute delight of his thousands of fans.

Still time left to enjoy the other delights of the festival though.......
