He lives on for me courtesy of Turner Classic Movies.

I dream about people like James Mason, Ernest Borgnine, Judy Garland, Bogart, Taylor, Burton, etc. because I watch so many classic movies! I love 'em!

I've got the L of A on DVD two - a 2dvd job.

(Considering his lifestyle for much of it - he didn't have a bad innings did he?)

I didn't appreciate until the obituary that, unlike his contemporaries, O'Toole gave up alcohol - as long ago as 1975.

That is right, it was the booze and fags that caused his health scare in the mid-1970s.
I gather from various press reports and TV reviews of him that it was the legacy of that poor lifestyle that eventually killed him off.
He never gave up smoking.
A fab actor, and will be very much missed.
Geoff.
