This year we have lost some greats both from our families & friends, & that is always so sad. But there is that other side, of those that gave us that soundtrack to our lives & we have lost some real greats this yr. Of those there is occasionally a person of real substance someone whose music touches your soul. Richie Havens is such a man he wrote back to my roots that Odyssey made into a hit. His live version on youtube is a work of real power & he will be missed.

Yes. a great singer. Sadly I never saw him play.

My mate & I consumed a bottle of whisky during Jethro Tull and Jimi Hendrix' sets at the 1970 IoW Festival, and fell asleep when Joan baez was on. Woke up briefly during Leonard Cohen, and again with a hangover in full daylight. Heard people raving about him playing 'Here Comes the Sun' at sunrise.

I've got a couple of his early LPs, must convert to digital - Alarm Clock and Stonedhenge.

A sad day.

Can't think of anything much worse than waking up with a hangover when sleeping in a field. Except - waking up with a hangover and hearing Leonard Cohen. I'd think I'd died and gone to hell. Music to hang yourself by.
