So J R has really died sadly succumbed to cirrhosis of the liver & cancer aged 81. He brought a lot of joy to a lot of people never a Dallas fan meself but a lot are still. I prefered I Dream of Jennie mind you that was more to do with the Gennie.
He will be missed by millions.
Sorry to hear this. I'm a bit surprised at the cirrhosis thing though.
Larry famously used to drink 5 bottles of champagne every single day whilst making the early Dallas series; however, he was never seen as or suspected of being drunk. It finally caught up with him in 1992 though when he was diagnosed with cirrhosis. Three years later he had a liver transplant, which saved his life. As far as I was aware he had been T total since (?). Either way, given that sort of background he did pretty well to see 81.
He certainly brought the villainous JR to life - over a very long period - and was wrapped up currently in appearing in the new generation of the saga, now to be written out of course.
L ike sagalout never a fan of Dallas but when you think of it who of our generation fan or not did not know his name. Fame indeed. Heard him being interviewed on radio today and he said it was 3 bottles of scotch and 60 fags a day. He gave up both and was a very strong member of the anti tobacco lobby. A real star and he will be missed
