We will be starting our "winter" season with a circular walk in the Protaras area, as its the first walk of the season it will be slightly shorter than our normal ones.
The walk is approx 5 1/2 Kms and is a Grade 1 walk, we will be walking uphill for the first 10 minutes or so but after that is either flat or downhill. The terrain is a mixture of footpaths, gravel roads and dirt tracks.
There will be a refreshment stop 2/3's of the way round.
Time of walk and meet up point TBA
Tues 27th September walk
Meet up point TBA
Information about the group and walks can also be found on our website
Yes the group is for all ages but obviously the criteria must be that both adults or children must be able to manage to complete the distance in the time frame of the walk.
We have to have a delicate balance with the pace, too fast and slower walkers are put off and if the pace is too slow the faster walkers are put off.
From memory the youngest we have had on one of our shorter " sunset" walks was 7 years old, she was tired at the end but managed it.
As for dogs as long as they are kept on a lead at all times and they do not cause any problems they are allowed.
Just an update on the meet up point and walk start time for next weeks walk.
We will be meeting uo at the kiosk in the car park at the bottom of the Prophet Elias church Protaras at 4:30 - 4:45 pm. The walk will start at 5 pm
Tonight's walk finished with a climb up the 160 steps ( if anyone counted more let me know) to the Prophet Elias church. Nice breeze blowing at the top which was most welcome after the walk.
See some photos taken en route
Just a reminder that our walk tomorrow will be starting from the Zafiri bar in Ayia Thekla and we will be walking along the coastal path to Liopetri Potamos and back again.
Meeting up 9:30 -- 9:45am and the walk will start at 10 am.
Sorry no dogs allowed on this walk as we will be crossing over a small beach.
Our next walk will be at the Larnaca Salt Lakes, we will be walking from the muslim shrine Hala Sultan Tekke and walking to the viaduct in Larnaca and back.
The walk is a Grade 1 walk of approx 8kms. and we will be having a refreshment break half way round. The terrain is mostly dirt roads with a small amount of tarmac at the start and finish.
When we were there on Satuarday we saw a magnificent flying display by a couple of birds of prey, if we are lucky we will see them again.
Meet up point will be at the Salt Lake picnic site 9:30 to 9:45 am
Walk will start at 10 am
If you need directions to the picnic site ring me on 99236947

Just a reminder about our next walk on Tues 8th Nov
We will be meeting up at the Bulldog pub/ restaurant Ayia Napa at 9:30 ish and the walk will start at 10 am
We will be walking up alongside the aqua duct and stopping for a mid point break at the church of St Epifanios which has great views over Ayia Napa before returning to the Bulldog.
The Bulldog is situated in the pedestrian area just up from the little church at the Ayia Napa harbour
Our next walk is on Tues 22nd Nov, we will be walking over the Pyla firing range. The Grade 1 walk will be approx 6.5 Kms over mostly sandy gravel paths and as we cross parts of the range you will be able to see some of the old tanks that have been used in firing exercises.
The meeting place for the walk will be at the "Blue football club" coffee bar Xylofagou which is next but one to the Chill bar. Meet up 9:30 to 9:45 ready to set off in our cars to the walk start point 10:00am.
If you are arriving at Xylofagou from the Avgorou direction you come to the roundabout by the old location of the Bank of Cyprus and take the second exit off the roundabout down a narrow road, this brings you to the square and the coffee shop is just down a bit on your left.
If you are arriving via the motorway from Paralimni its up to the roundabout by the old location of the Bank of Cyprus and take the first exit off the roundabout down a narrow road, this brings you to the square and the coffee shop is just down a bit on your left.
