Can anyone enlighten me as to how much the insurance is now to take a car across to the North for 10 days as we plan to do so in September. Last time it was 10 Cyp pounds.

That was a long time ago...............lol

Now it is done by the month. An average family car will cost you about 35 for the month.

Is it your own car, or a hire car. A lot of hire companies do not like / will not let, their cars going over the line.

Thanks Bigade

Probably know the answer already but if we take a hire car from South without optional North insurance I know that we are only covered 1/3 party but are customs at border that bothered / vigilant. Do they do any checks on hire cars?

Otherwise I will choose a different rental company than one I planned to use. Any others apart from Petsas covering travel to North please?

You have to have insurance for the North, you cannot take any vehicle over without it, hire or otherwise. At the crossing, they will ask for insurance in the name of the driver....... if you don't have any, they will direct you to the insurance kiosk....... Smile
