We went to the Village Tavern Pyla, and had a really good night. The food was excellent, it was an all night buffet for 10 euros, there was plenty of food, so we got to try a bit of everything. the service was excellent, even though it was so busy that they actually ran out of glasses at one point. The entertainment they laid on was fantastic, an amazing singer called Janet Jaye, who we had never seen before, she was brilliant. That Swing Thing and Zak kept us all dancing. Zak had plates smashing and lots of greek dancing. A thoroughly enjoyable evening. Well done to the Village Tavern.

Very Happy Very Happy

Also just to mention, they started their sunday roast this past weekend. I had the juicy roast pork with all the trimmings. Something new they've started this year is live music during the lunch while they are still serving outside in the huge patio. Place was packed full of people.

Sunday lunch has improved cause new owners are in there now. They opened under new managment in January so if you caught a roast dinner in there with the previous owners you will definately see and taste the difference new owners make!! No more frozen veg and store bought sweets.. It's all fresh veg and homemade all the way! Yes I agree the music on Sundays adds a very nice touch. He's just crazy the way he runs around, very entertaining!

Also, you can say what you like about the previous tenants...........may and her mum............NOTHING was frozen!!! all fresh and the only place that did boiled skinless spuds,as well as mash/roast, AND the yorkshires were to die for,AND the custard was REAL, need I go on Smile

Whether it was frozen or not, the food there was dire! It's better now, but today the singer was too loud & in your face for a Sunday lunch as far as I'm concerned.

I have been to the Tavern several times, and all I can say is that Theo his wife Denise and his staff (specially Erin), make every effort to satisfy their customers needs.

As for Dereck the singer....well he is just a nut case Laughing Laughing (only joking). I don't know where he gets the energy from!!

Music on SUndays has started again this week. They will be doing alternating weeks with Derek (formerly that swing thing) and Zak. This past week with Derek was packed, Zak always brings in a good crowd so should be good again this week. Will be there for sure.

From Larnaca if you're taking the motorway, If you take the 1st exit to PYLA.. when you come off the motorway continue straight, you will eventually come to the UN Buffer Zone, continue straight thru the village and the Village Tavern is on your Right on a corner. There is a big white wall around it and you will see the big letters on the front of the building "The Village Tavern". If you've got to the UN building and the village square you've gone about 50m too far.

Thanks for replies. Went to find the tavern but apparently went to the wrong one. The one we found was empty and was not open on the Saturday we were there. I have since been told the one we found had closed down? will try again on our next trip, might have better weather then too! (although i know Cyprus needs the rain) Smile Marian
